Kushal Poddar, born and brought up in the British colonial city – Kolkata, chose English over his mother tongue to reach beyond boundaries and also to enter into English as what Derrida would have said an outsider. He is widely published; translation of his works are available in nine languages. He authored ‘The Circus Came To My Island’, ‘A Place For Your Ghost Animals, Understanding The Neighborhood’, ‘Scratches Within’, ‘Kleptomaniac’s Book of Unoriginal Poems’, ‘Eternity Restoration Project- Selected and New Poems’ and now ‘Herding My Thoughts To The Slaughterhouse-A Prequel’  This is Kushal’s second contribution to the Thieving Magpie.
