Fernanda Hong was born in Costa Rica to Asian and Latino parents, and she has an MFA degree in Creative Writing from Columbia University. She also possesses an undergraduate degree in Biology and has worked in various conservation projects in Costa Rica. Through her writing she explores different narrative architectures, incorporating elements from digital storytelling as well as photography and other media. She writes about the female experience, especially in a Latino context, since she believes it’s necessary and valuable to include perspectives that have been marginalized in the past.
