We have made it to Issue 2! Our goal was to produce an issue every season. For now, we are going Solstice to Solstice. A lot was learned from launching Issue 1 – how to get the word out through social media; how to draw and procure fresh voices and visions; how to use the “archive” and “excerpt” links on this website – and a lot more will likely be learned with the launch of Issue 2. But the main goal remains unchanged: keep finding those voices and visions for the next issue. We remain committed to good work. Good writing. Good art.

In this issue, we were fortunate enough to find a hearty mix of artists all committed to the written word. Storytellers, poets and essayists fill the links and pages of Issue 2 with their vibrant imagery and clear voices that speak to themes of revisiting old stomping grounds, aging souls not ready to give up the ghost, surreal natural events and, of course, the heat and passion of Summer.

It is the hope of the Thieving Magpie that anyone who ventures onto this site leaves enlightened, provoked, entertained and maybe slightly aroused. Mostly, we hope you come back, that you tell your friends about the site and that you submit your own work.
