the Thieving Magpie is, above all else, a labor of love. We launched this site out of an earnest desire to create a community of writers, artists, readers and viewers, open and available to anyone interested.

Why? Because community is fun! It is fun to be part of something. Most artists spend their lives feeling like outsiders. Wouldn’t it be nice to be inside for a change? A nest of mayhem for outsiders to frolic and share their literary mischief? That is the Thieving Magpie!

We have been operating on an all-volunteer basis since 2017 and are coming up on our 7th Anniversary Winter Issue (www.thievingmagpie.org). Along the way, we have learned a lot about tech. But not enough. Never enough.

Now we seek your support to update, upgrade and maintain our site using qualified tech experts to make the experience easier for everyone involved.

Let’s face it, literary mischief is FUN – but not when the links don’t work. This season of giving, we are asking for donations of ANY size from our readers, artists and fans.
