Maria’s work has been published or is forthcoming in Allium, Apricity Magazine, Chamber Magazine, Cobalt Review, Evening Street Review, Ghostlight, Mystery Tribune, The Penmen Review, Potato Soup Journal, Press Pause Press, Skywatcher Press Dead Unleashed Anthology, and Slab.  She won the 1993 Reed New Writers Fiction Award with her novel Left of Centre (Secker & Warburg 1994). Her latest novel Drown ’Em Like Puppies was long listed in the Michael Gifkins Award 2022 and made the Top 50 in the Sixth Annual Launch Pad Prose Competition. She has an MA in Modern Literature in Translation from Birkbeck College London, and has worked in PR and finance.  She lives in New Zealand with her husband and two sons.
