David R. Bowne is an Associate Professor of Biology and Environmental Science at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, USA. As a scientist with a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, he has published widely in the fields of ecology and conservation biology. As a creative writer, his short works of fiction and creative nonfiction have been published in The Satirist, Showbear Family Circus, EcoEd, The Write Launch, and Hippocampus. When not mucking around in wetlands with students studying turtles and salamanders or enjoying quality time with his wife and two children, he can be found typing away in the dark of his basement office.
