Lisa Medway, Bio

Lisa Medway was a contributor to the Thieving Magpie’s FIRST Issue (Winter 2017/18).  She recently published “Oregon Origin Story” for The Mail Tribune in Meford, OR.  She attended UCLA and was an instructor in the Writers’ Program at UCLA Extension for over 20 years, where she has taught hundreds of classes as varied as Creative Writing, Writing TV Sitcoms, Animation Writing and Comedy Sketch Writing. From 2014 to 2018 she taught creative writing at FOX Studios for their “Learn At Lunch” program. She has been a member of the WGA since 1980 with a career in television comedy (that isn’t over).  Until her move to Ashland, OR in 2018, she appeared all-over Los Angeles in Storytelling Shows performing true stories to live audiences every month. Occasionally (when not too tired) she also does stand-up comedy. She was an Enrichment Speaker on a 2-week Celebrity Cruise where she was seasick for two weeks. Ms. Medway has written book reviews for ArtsBeatLA and a new review for a young author’s debut will be appearing in “Necessary Fiction” soon. She has co-authored a satirical self-help book called ME 101: A WORKBOOK FOR A BETTER RELATIONSHIP. You can read her (often) inappropriate essays at: http://lisamedway.wordpress.com. She is currently working on a memoir entitled THE DESIGNATED DAUGHTER.  A Los Angeles native who attended Beverly Hills High School in the 60s, Ms. Medway grew-up with many children of celebrities, and a few kids who grew-up to be famous actors and writers. She has been truly starstruck only twice in her life: once, when she met Ruth Gordon and Garson Kanin and before his tragic death: John Kennedy Jr. Her proudest, most rewarding achievement is being the Mom of Zack, Gabe & Jake Medway.
